May 12, 2023 (Lynx Lake, Prescott, AZ)

I can’t think of anything more relaxing than sitting here right now at our campsite, looking out over hundreds of Jeffrey Pines cascading down toward the shores of Lynx Lake below.

A warm breeze plays in the late spring landscape, tickling tree tops until they laugh in waves, giving air it’s sound.

Hummingbirds swoop in to our feeder for 2-second sips, battling over the equivalent of several months of nectar. Little Dog lays in the dirt several feet away. A hummingbird dives directly at Little Dog, not more than three inches behind her ears, buzzing and dancing, and somehow Little Dog doesn’t twitch or even blink.

Hubby thinks this looks like a rabbit. 😉

It’s a “stare down” between Little Dog and the rock rabbit.

We are in “the zone”… the third day of vacation. Doesn’t matter if it’s a tropical beachy trip or a woodsy camping trip, takes three days to detach from the human mind’s incessant need to know what’s going on with the rest of the world.

Takes three days to completely disconnect, to consider this getaway place our new normal scenery.

Takes three days, too, for local wildlife to size us up and accept us as part of their normal scenery. They begin to see us as wild things and we begin to see it too. We follow their paths through tall grass and trees, feeling we belong. We swim in their oceans and lakes as if we were born with fins and gills.

Whether or not we realize it, we’ve just tapped into the essence of Oneness. What is Oneness, you ask? Well, in a nutshell, it’s our connection to all beings on this rotating blue-green sphere and in the universe at large. It’s our connection to the creator of everything that exists (past, present and future). It’s our connection to the creative energy from which we came and within which we all experience our limited earthly existence.

Site G-29: This is where we’ve been the past few days and one of the many places where we’ll keep returning in order to remember what we came from (a creative, expansive energy source called by many different names by the peoples of this world), what we’re made of (the same stuff the entire universe is made of–let’s call it stardust–that is equally creative and expansive as that which created us), and what is perhaps most important in this life…  namely, CONNECTION.
